What is this chapter mainly about?

Why didn&#39t Atticus and Aunt Alexandra hear Scout and Jem scream?

Even though it was very dark outside, Jem could see Scout.

How could Jem see Scout?

Scout says she thought Atticus had come to help them, but it wasn&#39t Atticus. Mr. Tate asks, "Who was it?" Scout points to the man in the corner of Jem's room.

Who is this man?

Find the section where Sheriff Tate talks about the kind of man Ewell was, the kind that drank so much he&#39d set out to kill children. Atticus replies, "I can&#39t conceive of a man who&#39d…"
