Psychology is one of the fastest growing AP topics, and we are looking to expand this access through student-centered discussions of this content written in a way that provides SAT practice (and reading support in general). We are working with students to present the topics listed below using professional language and engaging storytelling. We ask each student author to approach this writing like they will approach their college essay; 650 words, well-structured paragraphs, and introductions/summaries that grab the reader and make sure the points are well discussed.
Interested? There are two ways join:
The APA’s Introductory Psychology Key Themes are as follows:
Look through the list of prompts we have created based on the AP Psychology curriculum. Do a basic amount of research to ensure you know enough about your ideal topic to write a coherent thesis statement and outline a few key points to your writing. We will give you feedback on your outline in one week that may include some ideas on how to emphasize the strengths in your ideas.
When we agree on the flow of your chapter (the hook that grabs the reader, structure that reinforces your readers’ understanding, and a conclusion that reinforces your thesis), then you write it over four weeks. If your chapter follows the outline, then we will edit the grammar to improve the readability and publish it. If the chapter does not follow the outline, then we will highlight the deviations and ask for a revision (we will provide another four weeks).
We will publish these chapters in a series of 4 books and will send you online access to your book and a letter documenting your successful completion of the chapter which will include details on how to cite your authored chapter. Our plan is that this writing process (outline, hone, draft, and final edit) will be the same you use to create college essays. In addition, you will have a great additional success to share in your applications!
