What is chapter four mainly about?

Bella does not plan to attend the school dance. What reasons does Bella give Charlie for not wanting to go?

Look at the section near the beginning of chapter four where Bella ponders how no one else seemed to notice how fast Edward moved to save her from being hit by the van. Stephenie Meyer writes, "With chagrin, I realized the probable cause–––no one else was as aware of Edward as I always was."

In this context, what does "chagrin" mean?

Look at the section of chapter four where Edward explains to Bella that he thought it would be better if they were not friends. Edward says, "It would be more….prudent for you not to be my friend."

In this context, what does "prudent" mean?

Were there any events that weren't clear to you?
