Look at the section of chapter forty–one where Despereaux tells the threadmaster that there is no one else to save the princess. The threadmaster replies, "No one to do the really disagreeable jobs except oneself."

In this context, what does "disagreeable" mean?

In chapter forty–one, the threadmaster declares that Despereaux must be on a quest. Despereaux does not know what a "quest" is. Later in the chapter, the author addresses us (the reader) and asks that we say this extraordinary word aloud: "quest".
